The complaints are about the Federal Emergency Management Agency. FEMA -- remember them? The $25 Billion agency with 20,000 employees -- only 260 of whom coordinate disaster relief!??? Kate Hale, Dade County Commissioner of Health, called a press conference today to warn that additional casualties due to dehydration and communicable diseases are likely unless supplies of water, baby formula, and sanitation equipment are dispatched to the Florida disaster zone. Roger Peterson, FEMA's Deputy Director (and the only agency official to show his face on camera) responded with the following: FEMA has budgeted $50 Million in disaster relief for South Florida (total damage estimates: $20 Billion). The problem is being handled. Local authorities are WRONG. Off camera, Dade County officials said privately that FEMA's actual response has been practically nonexistent. The three agency officials who actually DEAL with local Florida authorities basically told the Floridians to "Sit down and shut up" in the best Bush Administration tradition. With arrogance that is virtually unbelievable -- and with thinly veiled threats of a direct takeover -- the FEMA commissars are providing stunning example of what may be in store for the rest of us, each Region in its turn. Is this, then, to be the American New Class? A nomenklatura of covert operatives, central planners, National Security State types, and ambitious local collaborators. The agency has bigger fish to fry than getting water and food to the 250,000 homeless hurricane victims, of course. Much closer to FEMAs real mission is the media blackout and telecommunications/broadcasting/martial law shutdown of Northern Idaho (to allow the off-camera "handling" of a cabin full of white supremacist tax protesters). Long-term, other important agency missions include: Implementing the new, centrally directed Emergency Broadcast System (EBS) with the FCC [the last sounds you hear as a free citizen of this republic will be these: "We interrupt this broadcast at the request of the White House."]. Also, the creation of computer dossiers for all Americans through the good offices of the National Security Agency at Ft. Mead, MD. These dossiers [to support asset seizures and internment of "radicals"] contain collated government and private property records, gun registrations, census data, political data and commercially available lifestyle info. I hope everyone will consider writing their Congressman and/or Senators to expose FEMA as a feckless sham when it comes to disaster relief -- and a SNAKE IN THE CRADLE of our democracy. I don't support everything Liberty Lobby stands for -- but they're the "leakers of last resort" these days, and they got a draft copy of the GAO report on FEMA two months ago. It scares the sh*t out of me, and we're seeing living proof in Florida that it's all true, and these guys really ARE Nazis. Here's the little FEMA precis leaked to Liberty Lobby: What is FEMA? What's it supposed to do? And what does it do, REALLY? The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has been a hot topic among government-watchers and conspiracy buffs for years. Interest has been growing ever since 1984 press leaks squelched FEMA's proposed OPERATION REX 84 (Readiness Exercise '84) -- which was planned by Lt. Col. Oliver North of the National Security Council and delegated to the federal "emergency preparedness" agency for implementation. REX 84 included "subversive roundups", suspension of Habeas Corpus, detention camps, media blackouts and telecommunications monitoring, control and shutdowns. Recent natural disasters and civil disorders have left Americans with even more troubling questions about FEMA, as the heavily funded agency responded slowly -- or not at all -- to devastating events around the U.S. Since 1989, Hurricane Hugo, California's Loma Prieta earthquake, severe costal storms in the Northeast and mid-Atlantic states, the Chicago flood, and most recently the Los Angeles riots have all come and gone. In each of these crises, FEMA's behavior puzzled observers and dismayed disaster victims. The agency either avoided involvement in the disaster area altogether -- instead sending a small, three- or four-person delegation to present a large U.S. Treasury check to the state or city government). Or FEMA confined itself to assisting citizens and businesses with processing insurance claims and SBA loans -- and by many accounts, even this paper-pushing was done in a desultory, ineffective way, with many claims remaining unresolved and unpaid years after the disaster. But even though taxpayers, professional researchers and Congress have all watched FEMA with growing curiosity and anxiety for almost 8 years, real insights into the mysterious agency have been slow in coming and very incomplete. That's starting to change, however. The reason? Congress's General Accounting Office (GAO) is about to release a report on FEMA. It makes interesting reading -- even though its authors admit that the report is *far from complete*. And why is the GAO report incomplete? Because a LARGE, UNKNOWN PORTION of FEMA's budget -- and up to 90% of its personnel and their activities -- are concealed due to "National Security". Why did FEMA stay away from American disasters? Why was it caught flatfooted by obvious threats like a California earthquake or an East-Coast hurricane, over 10 years after the agency's inception? BECAUSE ONLY 260 persons in the entire agency (which has cost over $25 billion dollars in accountable public funds since 1978) are assigned to disaster relief. The rest of FEMA's employees are busy planning for the seizure and shutdown of communications, transportation, highways, food stocks, manufacturing, shipping, local law enforcement and many, many thousands of individual citizens. They are amply funded with BLACK-BUDGET APPROPRIATIONS from combined Defense Appropriations Bills. They are anonymous and concealed from public view by high security clearances and "Top Secret" classifications of their work. They are assembling all governmental, private, and public data for every individual in the United States, and keying that data to the individual's Social Security Number. Is FEMA a blueprint for tyranny? The following articles provide the answer, which I think is unquestionably YES. The larger question, it seems to me, is whether FEMA already represents tyranny, all by itself. Clark Matthews The Wrong Number BBS / Home of ParaNet Plots! Echo 201-451-3063 24 hrs.
