The board provides a forum for the interchange of ideas between parties interested in federal, state and local emergency management. The SALEMDUG BBS is open to the general public and we encourage the full participation of anyone who is interested in this subject matter. This board operates 24 hours/day and supports 1200-9600 baud. ÉÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍ» º Bulletin 1 - The Purpose of this Bulletin Board º ÈÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍÍͼ The State and Local Emergency Management Data Users Group (SALEMDUG) is an association of State, local, and FEMA emergency management personnel who share an interest in fostering the use of computers to support emergency management programs and activities. The purpose of the organization is to promote the exchange of information, to encourage standardization throughout the emergency management community, and to work together to facilitate the application of computer technology to emergency management problems and the transfer of automated data processing information among all levels of government. The membership of SALEMDUG includes 31 States, several local civil defense organizations, FEMA Headquarters and all FEMA regions. Six standing committees have been established and an annual meeting is conducted to inform members of new technology, provide a forum for discussion, and provide the opportunity for sharing ideas and software applications. FEMA has fostered and supported SALEMDUG, now in its fourth year of operation. This bulletin board has been established by FEMA to support the group. The SALEMDUG BBS provides a means of communication between its geographically dispersed members, shares information through bulletins and messages, and offers a means of exchanging public domain software and shareware programs. The SALEMDUG BBS is open to anyone, including members of the general public, who are affiliated with or have an expressed interest in the area of Emergency Management. FEMA hopes that this rather unique means of communication will prove beneficial to you in this important arena. The System Operators of this board (SYSOP) are Rod Renner (202-646-3528) and Chip Hines (202-646-3115). Any suggestions are welcomed and may be left by leaving a message to the SYSOP. If you are interested in establishing a conference (a separate place on the bulletin board for people to discuss a particular special interest), please let the SYSOP know.
