Date: 02-26-94 From: MIKE CHRISTOL Below you will find a letter I received from a person I know who lives out of state. With his permission, I am reproducing this letter here and if any of you have had similar experiences, or know anything about this, please reply. REgards, Mike -------------------------------------------------------------------- White Sands I was born in March of 1957. Raised an Army brat my family and I traveled extensively before finally settling down in Augusta, Georgia during the mid-sixties. During the past 15 years of my life I have been involved, until recently in law enforcement in several counties in Georgia. During these 15 years I have encountered many unusual situations both that had an explaination and those that did not. My interest in UFOs resulted from exposure by my father during the 60's to every imaginable form of literature on the topic that he could find . I never really understood why he had this facination until much later in life. I can remember the magazines and paperback books accumulating and standing at the news-stand with my father looking for any newly released material on the topic. When Project Blue-Book was published he purchased it and after reading it he told me that the book was a cover-up and that I should read it but not believe what it said. He would respond to no further questions on the topic. In the summer of 1969 after my fathers return from Viet-Nam we were walking across a field to a neighbors house when he called my attention to a light in the sky near the full moon. We stood there observing the light (solid white) approach the moon and indeed appear to go behind it and come out the other side. The light then appeared to enter into the Earths atmosphere and pass directly over head without a sound or any detectible running lights. After a fashion it passed out of sight over the horizon. At this point we entered our friends house and my father called the local airport to check on any confirmed radar reports of the object. He was told by the on-duty air traffic controller that he had had no aircraft on his scope for the past 20 minutes nor were there any flights logged to be coming in prior to 23:00hrs. The sighting took place shortly after 21:00hrs with the call being made approximately 15 minutes later. My father hung up the phone shaking his head and related to me what the ATC had said. We both new what we had observed regardless. Shortly before my fathers death in 1981 he had a conversation with me one evening that took me totally by surprise. I don't remember exactly how the conversation of UFOs came up but it was during this time he told me what it was that had triggered his interest in the topic. During the mid-50's my father was stationed at the White Sands Proving Grounds in New Mexico. His MOS at this time was a Combat Photographer. He was assigned to photograph various launches of test missles at this time. I believe I still have some of these photos showing missles of various types sitting on their launching trailers or just as they are leaving their launchers. He went on to tell me (exact dates and times are long since forgotten) that one afternoon he was not assigned duty but was in the lab puttering around. At this time a jeep containing several M.P.s drove up and they told him to get his camera and anything else needed to take pictures and come with them.....NOW! As he was getting his equipment he asked what was going on and was told he wouldn't believe them if they told him but he was needed at one of the firing ranges immediately. After getting into the jeep they arrived at the range in question shortly there after where my father states he was confronted by a crowd of people consisting of men in white lab coats along with very high ranking officers. He stated that he was quickly hustled to the front of the group and shown what he was wanted to photograph. My father stated that on this desert range a missle had been set up on a launcher down range from the (blockhouse?, pit?) as was standard procedure prior to a missle launch of which he had photographed many before. I do not recall what the distance from the safety area to the launcher was, whether it was measured in miles, yards, kilos, etc. However my father stated that the distance wasn't extremely long. The launcher was set up at a saddle point between two low hills. He went on to state that next to the missile was hovering a very large silver disc shaped object. He said it was of the classic inverted cup and saucer form except bigger, much bigger than the launcher itself. He was ordered to begin taking photographs which he did for approximately the next thirty minutes before the object took off extremely fast straight up, disappearing from sight within seconds. My father said that he was immediately transported back to the photo lab and ordered to complete the first stage of the developing process but to stop there. He learned later that a different man was brought in for each stage that followed so that no one ever saw the next stage. He said shortly thereafter all those involved in the developing process were ushered into a room and told that the situation that they had been involved in was top secret and was not to be discussed by them with anyone from this point on. My father said shortly after every member of the development team came under orders sending each of them to a different corner of the earth effectively separating the participants. He further said that he never discussed the matter with anyone before he told me. This explained to me his keen interest in the subject. My father was an honest man, he always meant what he said. I asked him questions about the event but he could only say that to this day he did not know what type of craft it was that he had observed on that desert missile range. I also know that my father was not alone on that day. He had a group of approximately 40-50 others there with him at the time. I would be very interested to hear from someone that was present during this sighting. My father stated that prior to this event he had heard scuttlebutt that sometimes there were unusual occurances at White Sands but he never had reason to believe them until this incident. I would like to hear of other similar incidents from people stationed at White Sands Proving Grounds. Signed, TRUTH BEARER The truth is out there............ 2/22/94
