A shot of the unmarked bus which shuttles Groom Lake workers from Alamo to the base in the morning, then back again in the afternoon. This was taken at the intersection of Groom Lake Road and Highway 375, at approximately 3:45pm. If you want to catch a glimpse of this bus, this is the time to do it. It comes through here the same time every day. Notice that the windows are blacked out. For what reason, I do not know...

Interesting Sidenote: Just after this photo was taken, we started to pursue the bus as it made its way back to Ash Springs. My intentions were to get some photographs of the workers getting off the bus at the roadhouse.

After arriving at the junction and pretending to be reading the warning signs at the Key Pittman Wildlife Management Area across the street, a somewhat surly looking gentleman got into his car and headed down the road toward us. As he passed, he slowed down and was checking out what exactly we were doing, while we did the same to him. He then sped off up Highway 318 toward Hiko. As we backed out of the parking area a few minutes later, he returned, only to stop up the road and turn around again. It would seem that we had someone following us while we were following him! He must have seen us from the bus and wanted to know what we were up to.

Choosing to avoid a conflict, we sped off up 375 with Mr. Crankypants (as we would later call him) in pursuit. While he was still a ways back, we turned off the highway and onto the road to Reed Spring. His flimsy sports car could not follow this rugged 4WD track...

Upon reflection, I think it may have been more interesting to stop and actually talk to this gentleman...
