    I fly dark gray helicopters for the US Navy.  We do not mutilate
cattle or transport jack-booted U.N. storm troopers on missions to
confiscate your bibles and firearms.  The reasons our markings are
virtually unidentifiable is to reduce IR contrast, not to hide our
identity.  We fly at night because that is how we expect to fight
future wars.  We fly at terrain-following and nap-of-the-earth
altitudes for the same reason.  Training routes are planned to avoid
populated areas to the maximum extent possible.  Regulations require us
to stay clear of wildlife refuges, designated wilderness areas, and
national parks.  We are sensitive to the concerns of the taxpayers, but
you must remember, we also have a mandate to defend the country.  To do
this, we must train.
