Early Sunday morning, April 28, 1996, at approximately 1:30-2:00 a.m., a giant ball of blue flame was seen coming straight out the sky and impacting the earth somewhere in the far Western Montana-Eastern Idaho wilderness. It was seen by people from Whitefish and Kalispell Montana to Idaho Falls.
People on a mountaintop in northwestern Montana saw a huge explosion when it hit. Four to five minutes later, they heard the sound and felt the shockwaves, indicating it must have been a long distance away.
A Sheriff's deputy from Idaho falls saw the fireball and explosion and contacted the National UFO Reporting center.
