"ALIEN AUTOPSY" PRODUCER SAYS CAMERAMAN WILL TALK

[Jan 23, 1996] Is this the break we've been waiting for in the interminable "alien autopsy" controversy? According to a recent story in the online entertainment newsletter Showbiz, Bob Kiviat of Kiviat/Greene Productions, who created "Alien Autopsy: Fact or Fiction" for FOX-TV, now says he's located the real cameraman, who has agreed to talk. Quoting the Showbiz article by Greg Lee:

"If you haven't gotten your fill of six-fingered, potbellied aliens under the knife, breathe easy -- the autopsy will resume. Robert Kiviat, executive producer of Alien Autopsy: Fact or Fiction, tells us that yet another special is in the works, and this one will include not only new footage, but a first-ever interview with the retired military cameraman who claims to have captured postmortem exams that took place in Roswell, New Mexico, in 1947. The mystery shutterbug, who reportedly is in his eighties and resides somewhere in California, had, until now, always insisted on complete anonymity, because he feared government reprisals... or worse. So why has the alien camerman chosen to break his silence? Darned if we know, and Kiviat isn't saying. He will say, however, that unlike its predecessors, the next installment of Alien Autopsy may not air on the Fox network. 'We're in negotiations at the moment,' Kiviat said. More probing to come."

CNI News reporter Rebecca Schatte contacted Kiviat's coordinating producer David Roehrig to find out if the Showbiz article was accurate. Roehrig replied:

"I will confirm that the Showbiz article is true. Greg Lee did speak to Bob [Kiviat] and those are Bob's comments. Unfortunately, due to our negotiations with various parties, I am not at liberty to disclose any further information at this time. However, once everything is 'locked' I will be able to discuss more details.

CNI News will stay on this story as it develops.
