Author Preston Dennett, a field investigator for MUFON, also says in his book that many abductees are taught by extraterrestrials how to perform psychic hands-on healing; and he describes parallels between UFO healings and other "miraculous" cures sometimes associated with lightning strikes and profound religious experiences.
But UFO encounters often have the opposite effect, Dennett says. Many UFO experiencers have apparently sustained serious injury during an encounter, and there are several recorded instances of death. Why some people are healed of life threatening ailments while others receive serious injury is a mystery within the larger mystery of close encounters.
