ICE FROM SPACE?

Chinese experts claim to have recovered the first known samples of meteoric ice. Three fist-sized chunks fell into a rice paddy in Zhejiang province recently. Amateur geologist Zhong Gongpei was nearby when farmers reported that the objects left cloudy streaks in the atmosphere. Gongpei was only able to recover one of the specimens and reportedly took it to a frozen-food facility for storage. Chinese scientists say the irregular object does not exhibit the usual layering typical of hailstones. They plan to analyze the sample soon to look for isotopes and cosmic dust.
