UFOLOGISTS URGE ARMAGEDDON EVACUATION TO SIBERIA

[If the following is any indication, "Millennium Fever" is advancing as fast in Russia as it is in the West. This text is based on a longer story which appeared on the Reuters newswire on September 8, 1997, written by Peter Henderson.]

CHEBARKUL, Russia -- Armageddon may be just around the corner, but a group of Russian scientists say they can save humanity by attracting flying saucers from the fourth dimension and evacuating everyone to Siberia.

But they say they have no more than two years to do it.

"We want to warn the West, so that we can save them in Siberia," said Vladimir Sobolyov, president of an independent research center called the Rerikh Academy. He was speaking at an international Congress of Ufologists, Astrologers and Clairvoyants held in the Ural Mountains resort of Chebarkul.

Sobolyov's analysis of prophesies by Russian saints, the 16th century French astrologer Nostradamus and other sources has led him to conclude that the earth will tilt about 30 degrees, very quickly, sometime within the next two years.

Widespread flooding, which will drown most of Scandinavia and much of Britain, will spare Siberia, where a new Jerusalem will be built, the bearded Ufologist said.

Sobolyov, whose research focuses on the fourth dimension, agrees that selling the plan to evacuate humanity to Siberia will be an uphill battle. But he pushes forward. In fact, he thinks the coming disaster could be a boon to Russia if government officials plan now to rent out vast tracts of Siberian land during Armageddon.

Delegates from Italy, Hungary and other countries worked with dozens of Russians on the problem during the recent Urals conference. Government officials have yet to comment.

A key factor in success, delegates agreed, is widespread contact with higher-dimensional alien civilizations.

"There is no more urgent issue than to increase contact with such civilizations," said Dr. Lev Chulkov, who heads the Ufology department of the partially state-funded Intersectoral Scientific and Technology Centre of Venture Non-traditional Technologies.

Chulkov's institute gets some of its meager revenues doing geological surveys for companies looking for oil in Siberia.

Chulkov himself, a former astroscience technician, says he has seen spaceships he knew were UFOs due to their zig-zag trajectories, a tell-tale characteristic often reported in the West as well as other parts of the world.

Former Russian test pilot Marina Popovich also participated in the conference. She told reporters that while staying last year at Star City, the cosmonaut training center, she saw a cigar-shaped ship about 20 metres (65 feet) long, with pulsing lights.

"There was absolutely no sound," said Popovich. She woke up a number of cosmonauts to see the ship, but they arrived too late, she said.

Sobolyov confidently predicts that the aliens will step up their activity to help humankind during the coming Armageddon flood.
