MORE DAYLIGHT UFO SIGHTINGS ON FLORIDA PANHANDLE

[The past two issues of CNI News have featured UFO reports from the Pensacola and Gulf Breeze region of the Florida panhandle. Activity in that region continues unabated. CNI News thanks Vicki Lyons of Project Awareness (vickilyons01@sprynet.com) for sending the following information.]

UFO researcher Vicki Lyons interviewed eyewitness Don Rash on March 10, 1998, concerning his recent daylight UFO sighting in Gulf Breeze. Lyons characterizes Rash as "a very credible businessman."

On March 2 at about noon, Rash drove his daughter to her job at the Circle K convenience store on Pensacola Beach, Lyons reports. Traveling back from the beach to his Gulf Breeze home, Rash was crossing the Bob Sykes Bridge which connects the beach to Gulf Breeze when "he looked up into the completely cloudless blue sky and saw a large, silver saucer-shaped object."

Rash checked the clock and noted the time as 12:59 p.m.

He described the object as being the size of a quarter at arm's length. He said that it "turned up on its side and held that position for about two seconds, and then it just absolutely disappeared 'as fast as lightning,'" Lyons reported.

Rash told Lyons that he could not keep up with its movement, and when he scanned the skies immediately following its disappearance, there was nothing. He expressed astonishment that it could disappear that quickly.

Asked to specifically describe the object's sideways movement, he compared it to a four wheel vehicle that suddenly turned up on its side and traveled on two wheels. It was "just a sudden movement over to its side and then it disappeared." He described the position of the object as "about 10 o'clock high" and seemingly over the famous Shoreline Park area of Gulf Breeze.

Another UFO witness came forward recently to describe her sighting in the early morning hours of Wednesday, February 21. As told to Pensacola MUFON investigator Boots Eckert, Peggy Willis was driving east on U.S. 98 in Gulf Breeze near the local zoo at 6:50 am. Through the upper right section of her windshield, she saw a round, shiny object in the sky. Its height placed it just above the nearby power lines in her field of view, and to the left of the sun. She said its luminosity was as bright as the sun.

Willis watched the object as she drove for about two miles and then decided to pull off the road and stop in order to determine if the object was moving. It was about 55 to 60 degrees above the horizon and seemed to be stationary. As soon as she stopped, she says, the object blinked out. She then said to herself, "Why did the light go out?", whereupon the object reappeared at the same spot.

After two or three minutes, she proceeded on her way. The object remained visible as she turned into a residential area called Holley by the Sea. However, when she reached her destination a short while later, the object was no longer in sight.

CNI News will continue to follow the ongoing wave of UFO activity in Florida.
