Indianapolis ground control did confirm a radar contact. Apparently, the governor of Indiana was on the flight and also confirmed the sighting. This was heard second hand! That the Soviets are aware of the American viewpoint of aliens. It is should be considered why so much emphasis was put on a Soviet press release (in spite of what the more critical observer may think) on national network news here in the United States, when there is such a de-emphasis on wide release here in the US, outside of small scale stories that must be garnered out of hundreds of newspaper clippings. Although the Soviets may not have learned self-censorship, with their newfound freedoms, the United States is well aware of self-censorship, yet waived that for this particular story. A thought crossed my mind, though, recently, the Soviets were saying that if we put star wars technology in place, a UFO passing "innocently" by, could start the missles flying between USA and USSR by mistake.
