Dale Wedge and I are MUFON State Section Directors for N.E. Ohio. Although Mllersburg is not in that area, we received some information related to the case. On the night of the reputed landing, I had a phone call from a local television weatherman who has contacted me in the past to discuss UFOs. He mentioned that his co-worker, who is an anchorman on the nightly news had a sighting of objects over Cleveland, OH which he describes as identical to reports of objects over Indianapolis, IN on the same night. There are reports of an alleged landing in Indianapolis that night as well. Does anyone have any further information on the Indianapolis case(s)? -- Rick Dell'aquila - via FidoNet node 1:104/422 UUCP: !scicom!paranet!User_Name INTERNET: Rick.Dell'aquila@paranet.FIDONET.ORG -------------------------------------------------------------------- From: paranet!f37.n114.z1.FIDONET.ORG!Jim.Delton Subject: Re: The Fall of Stalinism Date: 20 Nov 89 16:13:00 GMT Why is it so hard to believe that one man (Gorby) could hold such sway? When Regean was in his first term he was able to get just about all he wanted (much of which made no sense and went against his promised lowering of the deficit) and that was in a "free" society. So why would it be suprising that Gorby can do so much in a non-free society. I haven't seen the tape but is there really that much detail on a home video shot at night to be so sure something WAS there? Could it have been shadows on curtains rustling in breeze? WHy is everyone so certain it is tied to the UFO? Was there even a UFO? It seems that an awfull lot is being made of this "event" which doesn't sound like much of anything to me. If the lights turn out to be flares, as I suspect they might be, then the "thing in the window" becomes a dead issue (except, of course, to the omni-creds of the world). On the other hand, there IS something in the window. Its not shadows. Could turn out to be a cat or something, but it does look human in form. Many of us have been following world events Hi Linda -- this will come right out of left field, but a concern I have re:Gorbachev has nothing to do with politics. It has to do with Nostradamus. If you want to see what I mean, pick up any of Erica Cheetham's books on Nostradamus & her translations and reconstructions of his poems on the "last days". One of the verses goes: "From beyond the Dneiper [Russia -- one of the most backward areas of Europe in the 15th Century]/A creed will come/That is pleasing to some/But they'll drop it/As fast as they adopt it..." What's troublesome about old Nostradamus is that so much of what he wrote about came true. Problems are: 1) He wrote in medieval Walloon, and there are only 2 dozen people in the world who can translate it now (including Cheetham); 2) He deliberately scrambled and juxtaposed verses and proper names after he was accused of witchcraft in the 1440's -- the only clear passage in "The Centuries" refers to an obscure costal navigation treaty concluded by the Venetians and the Ottoman Turks in 1735 (which actually came to pass exactly as predicted!); 3) His apocalyptic prophesies can seem to apply in almost all ages -- but some key ones are precursors to a cataclysmic war. Why not have a look at the books? I *HATE* to admit it, but despite my pretentions of rationalism they give me the creeps -- especially when it comes to the supposed dissolution of communism. Date: 22 Nov 89 05:38:00 GMT The time for the KLAS-TV (Channel 8), Las Vegas, report is Saturday, November 25, 1989, 8:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. The program is titled, "UFOs: The Evidence." Producer George Knapp says it will include the substance as well as updates of material recently broadcast as the nine-part series, "UFOs: The Best Evidence." (Incidentally, each of those nine parts was approximately 15 minutes, not one hour.) Knapp also says that while he is personally interested in more UFO material about Area 51, there is no more budget at his station to pursue it. This contrasts with his on-air statement last week at the end of the ninth segment of the series, to the effect that the Area 51/S-4/Robert Lazar/recovered alien vehicles investigation is continuing; also earlier in the series, he had said that this was only the beginning, that the investigation is "by no means" over. -- Robert Klinn - via FidoNet node 1:104/422 UUCP: !scicom!paranet!User_Name INTERNET: Robert.Klinn@paranet.FIDONET.ORG -------------------------------------------------------------------- From: paranet!f428.n104.z1.FIDONET.ORG!Michael.Corbin Subject: Sighting Report Date: 22 Nov 89 05:06:00 GMT UFO Sighting in Mar Vista, CA DATE: 10/26/89 TIME: Approximately 9:45 P.M. LOCATION: 11734 Avon Way, Direction: West SIGHTING DURATION: Approximately 90 seconds AZIMUTH: 35-40 degrees ESTIMATED DISTANCE: 2,500-3,000 yards CONDITIONS: CLOUDLESS SKY, UNLIMITED VISIBILITY, 7 - 9 knot winds from SSW While waiting for a friend to arrive at her apartment on Thursday evening, October 26, 1989 at approximately 9:45 P.M., I stood on the front balcony of her building in front of the security door. Having little to do but patiently await her arrival, I began looking about the clear night sky. Due to the cloudless clear conditions that prevailed, visibility was excellent. To my right I observed conventional air traffic and even a police helicopter. Continuing my wait, I took my notice of the sky around me. Directly in front of my position on the elevated balcony of the building, I viewed an extremely peculiar vehicle in the air at an estimated 2,500-3,000 yards distance. Looking almost directly west, I saw what appeared to be a disc or saucer-shaped vehicle, gun-metal grey in color, surrounded by a brilliant white haze with a ring of multi-colored lights (red, orange, yellow and white) rotating counter-clockwise about its rim. The metallic-looking vehicle was clearly discernable through the bright haze. There was a stiff breeze of approximately 7 - 9 knots out of the SSW that evening and the object did not move in response to the wind. It followed a shallow flight path when first sighted just above my horizon line which was partially blocked by bushes and trees. However, the object under observation was at extremely low altitude. In absolute silence the object slowly traversed the horizon before me, as if searching for something. It was moving VERY slowly. At arm's length the object's size was that of a full thumb from the first knuckle at an azimuth of 35 - 40 degrees. As my friend's car approached, the vehicle dipped below the horizon tree line and I lost sight of it. Several minutes later we tried to relocate the object but to no avail. Due to the object's highly unusual configuration (shape), atypical navigation lights, if any, and its absolute silence, combined with the rotating ring of lights about it, and its motion in a strong wind, indications are that it was a vehicle of unknown nature, origin under powered flight. In a ten minute segment, a reporter summarized the "Hollywood" FBI files. Files on John Wayne, Marilyn Monroe, Liberace, etc., were mentioned and discussed. Somewhere in the middle of this, the reporter said something like, "And get this, in the files was a 1000+ page file on UFOs." We saw a scene from the movie Close Encounters of the Third Kind while this 30 second interlude aired. More celebrity stuff continued to the end of the whole segment. The UFO interlude was not materially connected in any way with the celebrity stuff. It was just mentioned as an aside and dropped. It's almost as if the editors said, "Hey, toss it in, this is sweeps month!" Does anyone know more about this? Is this "1000 *page*" FBI UFO file anything different from the 1000s of pages of FOIA docs already in the possession of various UFO researchers? Is there some way that UFO material can be formally tracked when it appears on Donahoe, Hard Copy, ABC Nightline, etc., perhaps, through the resources of TV Guide? Or, some industry watch or accounting group? It would be very interesting to see a chronology of TV UFO material including, if at all possible, local TV stuff too. I would be happy to gather information that people have informally collected and work it up into a suitable format and make it available to everyone via ParaNet. If somebody else wants to do this, I can put together what I have and send it off -- email or US mail. I think it ought to include time, date, TV station, reporter, producer, etc., and some words of description.
