It is recommended as balance for Ring's work. Thanks for your comments. I have not read the book yet, although I intend to in the near future. I am also interested in some material concerning "spheres" of light and OOBE that are seemingly associated with a close UFO encounter. Recently, I was reviewing the 1973 UFO encounter in Ohio with Larry Coyne and found the appendix most interesting. In this report, Coyne and Healy both had similar "body separation" episodes following the encounter and Coyne reported holding a bluish-white sphere in his hand in a dream while a voice told him, "The answer is in the circle." Although this sounds incredible, I must say that from what I can gather, the Coyne case got serious treatment and was truly unidentified. I am curious as to where Ring is trying to take his NDE vs. Abduction theory. Any input? Date: 10 Nov 92 01:25:00 GMT ParaNet/MICAP News Update ParaNet and MICAP recently sponsored an illustrated lecture titled, ROSWELL: EYEWITNESSES REVISITED, with Kevin D. Randle, co-author of UFO CRASH AT ROSWELL. The lecture introduced some very new and interesting information coming from the ongoing investigation being conducted by Kevin Randle and Don Schmitt, both special investigators with the J. Allen Hynek Center for UFO Studies. Randle played a tape from the original 1947 ABC radio broadcast as it broke the story to the country that the Army Air Force had "captured" a flying disk. This placed the audience in a first-hand, eyewitness position as they listened to the bulletin. Prior to the lecture, Randle, while a guest on KOA Radio's Rick Barber show divulged for the first time that he has actually handled a piece of the Roswell wreckage, although he would not discuss the details any further. Randle and Schmitt feel that the only conclusion that can be drawn from their investigation is that an extraterrestrial spacecraft crashed in the New Mexico desert. ParaNet will carry further information on the lecture an upcoming issue of CONTINUUM, our official quarterly news magazine. The new agency is named Financial Crime Enforcement Network or FinCEN . FinCEN did its part for the recent Persian Gulf war effort, according to Money Laundering Alert (MLA), a financial law enforcement newsletter published out of Miami, Florida. FinCEN did this by assisting another Treasury agency, the Office of Foreign Asset Control, in their White House-assigned task of "be- ginning the process of identifying Iraqi assets in the U.S." FinCEN provided information that "led OFAC to freeze 11 bank accounts and assets in California, Georgia, and New York, as well as corporate assets and a $3.5 million real estate parcel. " MLA continued, "The properties belonged to people suspected (emphasis added) of being fronts for Saddam Hussein... ". Some critics consider such seizure of property to be a denial of due process, a Sixth Amendment right. FinCEN obtained the information through what MLA refers to as FinCEN's "three major databases. " The first is of "financial information and intelligence such as that contained in the federal cash reporting Forms 4789 and 8300. " The second contains "commercial data, such as corporate and property ownership records from state sources." The third holds "law enforcement case files and intelligence from the various federal agencies." The political newsletter Washington Report, contends that FinCEN can "invade over 100 U.S. and private financial databases, IRS and DEA records, Customs Reports, land and real estate data. (and) census records. " FinCEN was established in 1990 with $13.4 million in funding. The agency has apparently blossomed since the naming of Brian M. Bruh, a former Deputy Assistant Commissioner of Criminal Investigation at the IRS and chief investigator for the Tower Commission, as director in March 1990. At that time, MLA reported that FinCEN employed 65 people, half "detailed" by the IRS and the Customs Service. It was anticipated that "a total staff complement of 200" would include "repre- sentatives" from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, an Firearms, the Secret Service, the Postal Inspectors, the DEA, unspecified "help" from the Defense Intelligence Agency and a "liaison" with the CIA. The potential impact on the Fourth Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens by a new federal agency created specifically to compile comprehensive asset holdings data on anyone suspected of wrongdoing should be explored by the national press. Leavell SOURCE:U.S. GENERAL Accounting Office Washington DC 20548 DATE: 3/18/91 Title: GAO/GGD-91-53 FinCEN COMMENTS: Project Censored first read about the obscure Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) in an editorial in a small publi- cation titled Washington Report. Washington Report is a four-page monthly newsletter published by Editors Release Service in St. Peters- burg, Florida. The editor, William A. Leavell, warned his readers "Have you ever heard of 'FinCEN?' No? You are not supposed to know about 'FinCEN.' Why? Because what it does is reported to violate the U.S. Constitution's 4th Amendment guarantee of your right to privacy. " Leavell told Project Censored that he was tipped to FinCEN by a good source in the intelligence community he has known for many years. Project Censored researchers discovered that FinCEN, a Treasury Department agency, was established, with little fanfare or media interest, in 1990 and already had played a role in the Gulf War effort. The problem is that FinCEN potentially threatens the Fourth Amendment rights of lawabiding citizens since it is authorized to compile extensive financial data on anyone who is suspected of wrongdoing. Leavell, a staunch supporter of the Bill of Rights and a virulent opponent of censorship, believes "the FinCEN" operation is a violation of existing law and the Constitution "and a serious invasion of privacy. He added that information about FinCEN was made available to the major electronic and print media but that they "elected to ignore it." Leavell warned that "Censorship serves those in power and those who benefit from the existing political and financial 'establishment'." -- Michael Corbin - via ParaNet node 1:104/422 UUCP: !scicom!paranet!User_Name INTERNET: Michael.Corbin@p0.f428.n104.z1.FIDONET.ORG -------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Anson.Kennedy@p0.f25.n1012.z9.FIDONET.ORG (Anson Kennedy) Subject: It's All In Your Head 1/ Date: 11 Nov 92 03:43:00 GMT > I am curious as to where Ring is trying to take his NDE vs. Abduction > theory. Any input? Ring calls people who have NDEs and UFOEs "experience prone" and speculates that this may be a "next step" in human evolution, which is why only some people who "die" and are revived report NDEs and why only some people who report UFO sightings also report abductions. With respect to UFOs, his speculation is similar to that of Keith Thompson in _Angels and Aliens: UFOs and the Mythic Imagination_. Towards the end of his book, Thompson theorizes that abductees are like fish pulled out of water into the air and then thrown back. The fish tells others that "We live in WATER!" but that there is something beyond the water. His fellow fish either ignore or ridicule him, but he knows what he saw. Someday, he may become an amphibian and move out onto the new frontier of dry land. Thompson speculates that abductees are human amphibians taking the first steps out of the water of our everyday experience into something "higher." Thompson's version is more poetic, but it echoes Ring's Omega Project. I *hate* being a Neanderthal on my way to extinction. :-) --- Anson -- Anson Kennedy - via ParaNet node 1:104/422 UUCP: !scicom!paranet!User_Name INTERNET: Anson.Kennedy@p0.f25.n1012.z9.FIDONET.ORG -------------------------------------------------------------------- From: Michael.Corbin@p0.f150.n30163.z1.FIDONET.ORG (Michael Corbin) Subject: Randle Claims To Have Handled Piece Of Roswell Saucer! Message-ID: Newsgroups: alt.alien.visitors g92n3258@giraffe.ru.ac.za (MR RL NICOL) writes: Yesterday I was watching a documentary on UFO's and they mentioned a UFO crash in S.A. Now, considering that that is where I live, I found it rather unusual. There had been nothing in the papers, nothing mentioned by ufologists in S.A., and nothing on television regarding even a hint about something crashing, let alone a UFO. ... here's some detail, from "UFOs, MJ-12, and the Government", by Grant Cameron and T. Scott Crain, and "UFO Crash/Retrievals VI: The Inner Sanctum", by Leonard Stringfield (both available from MUFON.) Is this the case you're talking about? On May 7, 1989, so the story goes (first published in "Quest International" V9 #2, 1989, by Tony Dodd), a UFO flew over SA airspace, and was brought down in the Kalahari Desert by two Mirage interceptors, one armed with some sort of experimental "Thor 2 laser canon" weapon. Recovery followed (though only after a special paint was brought in to cover the object -- its EM effects were stalling recovery vehicles, including a helicopter, which crashed.) The object was later opened, and two live (non-human) occupants discovered. The object and occupants were flown in USAF C-5's on June 23, 1989 to Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio (i.e. the object and occupants were transferred from SA to US control.) Accompanying the story (when told to some English UFOologists) was a five page SAAF document that tells this story, along with additional detail (20 yards wide, 9.5 yards high disk; 4-4.5 foot tall greyish-blue occupants, etc.) The source for all this was one James Van Greunen, who claimed to be a captain in SAAF Counterintelligence, and who claimed to be on the run (in South Africa) from his own government for releasing this information, and to have over 300 more pages of secret documents in a bank-safe in Zurich, and needed money to escape with his family to the US, (enough money to get him out of SA was donated by various people.) He did, after a number of adventures (once getting as far as Canada before being deported back to England), provide another 3 pages of stuff, which proved to be faked (xeroxing his passport and birth certificate for seals, and pasting up the rest). Further documents provided proved to be retyped from various sources (Bill Cooper's "Operation Majority", Bennewitz and Lear stuff, some home-grown stuff published by Van Greuen's local UFO group, and a photograph from a US UFO magazine ("California UFO"). When confronted with all this, Van Greunen claimed that he got the original (the 5-page document) information from a Captain Greer (or Greef), who really is a Captain in the SAAF. While the original 5-page document has *not* been shown to be inauthentic; it appears that Van Greunen concocted the rest to try and get more money, and lend weight to his case. Stringfield reports that Van Greunen was not the original informant (i.e. the source of the 5-page document), JVG appears to have tried to use the information he had (from whatever source), along with more stuff he came up with himself, to obtain money. But the story doesn't end there. Henry Victorian, Stringfield reports, contacted Captain Greef in South Africa, who rather than denying the report, instead pressed Victorian for *his* source of the report. He (Victorian) was later had contact with SA military people, who confirmed to Victorian that the crash and recovery had taken place (though that some details were incorrect -- the EM-field paint part, for instance.) Victorian also made requests for information from NASA, US Space Command (part of DoD), and the Naval Space Surveillance Center (part of USN) for known objects that had reentered the atmosphere and landed in South Africa. NASA said: The only one they had close to that date was Satellite 19942, on May 8, 1989 -- "reentered 26 April 1990 at 0115 Zulu" [this appears to be a misprint, and they mean 1989, and launched that date, rather than reentered -- see below], impacting 18 deg. South, 41 deg. East, "off SE tip of South Africa". USSC said: the only one close to that date (that USSC believed to have actually have impacted on earth, 6 other reentering objects were said to have had a less than 5% chance of reaching the earth) was Satellite number 19942, International Designator 19890-032B (USSR), common-named "FOTON 2 (rocket body)", launched 26 April, 1989, impacted May 8, 1989, 0119 Zulu, 18 deg. South, 41.1 deg. East, Inclination 62.8 deg. NSSC was asked about FOTON 2, and said it was Int. Des. 1989-032-B, number 19942, launched April 26, 1989, impacted on May 8, 1989 at 1101 Zulu, and impacted at 46.6 deg. North, 15.4 deg. East. [Note very different location and time from above.] The recommendation of Cameron and Crain is to ignore Van Greunen's "extra" documentation entirely, but that the 5-pager is worth study. Timothy Good is of the opinion that the whole thing (including the 5-pager) is a fabrication, and that some of the other actors in the case (notably Henry Victorian (aka "Henry Azadehdel")) are not to be taken at face value either. The authors also contacted Bill Moore, who agreed that the whole thing is pretty shaky (notably that SDI-laser-on-a-Mirage sounds pretty odd.) .. so, the case is a mess. On the one hand, we have a 'public' source that is clearly discredited. On the other, we have a murky set of other things that cannot be completely dismissed, and a document that may or may not be real. (Both Stringfield's and Cameron and Crain's books reproduce the document -- Cameron and Crain's exactly as received, in Stringfield's its retyped.) Perhaps Mr. Nicol can provide a.a.v with some more information? (Does the SAAF have a Department of Special Investigations and Research (DSIR)? Is there a "Valhalla AFB"? Does the SAAF have Mirage FIIG's in its inventory? What does SAAF letterhead look like? Does the SAAF measure things in yards and feet, or meters?) While a reporter at KLAS-TV in Las Vegas in 1987, Mr. Knapp investigated and publicly presented the fantastic account of Mr. Bob Lazar, a young physicist who has publicly admitted his involvement with the investigation of alien spacecraft on behalf of the U.S. government. Lazar claims the craft are able to create their own gravity, are powered by antimatter reactors, and are fueled by a previously unknown element, dubbed "115". With "disappearing" educational and employment records, Lazar has suffered both personal and legal attacks that have seriously damaged his public credibility; however, Mr. Knapp has assembled substantial evidence that suggests Lazar's claims are truthful. During the last several years, numerous eye witnesses have testified that the U.S. military has been storing, studying, and testing strange aircraft at a top secret base in a hidden, desolate corner of the Nevada Desert known variously as "Area 51", "Dreamland", or just "The Ranch". While requesting anonymity for fear of reprisals, most of these witnesses insist that some of the aircraft being studied are of alien origin, constructed of unidentified materials by an extraterrestrial intelligence. Come and meet George Knapp, award winning producer of "UFOs: The Best Evidence" and other TV documentaries, as he present the latest evidence and developments concerning secret government testing, disinformation cover-ups, and Bob Lazar, including photos and videos of incredible crafts in flight, at 8:00 pm Saturday, November 14th, in the Amphitheater at Cityplace, on the north bound access road of Central Expressway between Lemmon and Haskell. Jacobs, Mutual UFO Network (MUFON). This is a message with an extraordinary request for you. In 1964 the National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP) issued a compendium of information about UFOs called "THE UFO EVIDENCE". This enormously influential and useful volume drew together the various aspects of sightings and witnesses into a systematic and powerful testament to the reality of UFOs. It was used to educate congressmen and the public alike and it helped change the direction of UFO research. Now we have the opportunity to proceed with a project that promises to be even more powerful and influential. Budd Hopkins and Dr. David Jacobs are project directors, in participation with The Mutual UFO Network (MUFON), of a major effort to bring together the complexity and variety of the abduction phenomenon. The project calls for a compilation of abduction cases from around the country investigated by as many UFO and abduction researchers as possible. It is hoped that new patterns will be identified, new questions can be asked, and new directions for research can be developed. A compendium of this type can provide authoritative evidence of the reality of the phenomenon for UFO researchers, scientists, members of the therapeutic community, and skeptics. Obviously this type of endeavor depends on the cooperation of the entire UFO research community. Without your help it cannot be done. The time has come now to work together in a cooperative effort for the good of UFO research. It is only together that we can make substantial headway into deciphering the mysteries of this most important phenomenon. Both Budd Hopkins and Dr. David Jacobs will be contributing their cases and I hope that you will want to make your own contribution so that you can be part of this historic undertaking. Additionally, those of you who have had an abduction experience, or are aware of any person or persons who have had an abduction experience, are requested to also become involved in this endeavor. Any information you deem to remain confidential will remain so, as you will be dealing with persons of very high professionalism and credibility. Here is a short biography of the principles involved with this project: Budd Hopkins - Began researching abduction cases in 1975, is the author of a number of books, research papers and articles, among which are "Missing Time", "Intruders", and his newest book "A Crack In The Universe - The Psychological Impact of UFO Encounters". Involved with encounter groups. He is also on the staff of The Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) Dr. David M. Jacobs - holder of a B.A., M.A., and a Ph.D., author of a number of books, research papers and articles, including the book "The UFO Controversy in America". He's also a contributer to the Academic American Encyclopedia. He is a Consultant with The Mutual UFO Network (MUFON). The Mutual UFO Network (MUFON) - A scientific organization, in existence for over 22 years, involved in the UFO phenomenon. It is a world-wide organization, and has a staff and consultants from many areas of scientic pursuit and knowledge. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ [Note: Signatures of Budd Hopkins and Dr. David Jacobs appear on the original document to follow.] continued..... -- Michael Corbin - via ParaNet node 1:104/422 UUCP: !scicom!paranet!User_Name INTERNET: Michael.Corbin@p0.f428.n104.z1.FIDONET.ORG ******************************************************************************* Submissions infopara@scicom.alphacdc.com Administrative requests infopara-request@scicom.alphacdc.com FTP archive grind.isca.uiowa.edu:/info/paranet/infopara Permission to distribute Michael.Corbin@paranet.org Private mail to Paranet/Fidonet users firstname.lastname@paranet.org UUCP gateway {ncar, isis, csn}!scicom *********************End**of**the**InfoPara**Newsletter************************
