About Us

Welcome to The Anomalies Network the world's largest online UFO/Paranormal Community. Anomalies.net, originally The S4 Database, was started a little over 9 years ago in response to the lack of quality UFO/Paranormal information on the web. The goal was to either mirror or download the world's largest FTP and Web archives and place them into one super archive which made information location easier.

The Big Picture

The Anomalies team has always believed that only through raw information people can form their own opinions about what is happening. So we have constructed a site to those ends. We neither support nor deny the claims made in the files we house, we simply offer them to you to make up your own minds.

What does this site run on?

Thats a complicated question, the short answer is Open Source! We run the site on CentOS (linux), Apache, MySQL, PHP, Nutch and a few other Open Source applications. Open Source is very much about the freedom of information, a simple idea we share.

The Hardware

Main Server - AMD Opteron 8218 (2.6ghz Dual Core), 8gb RAM, 1tb SATA Raid 5 - From this server we run a series of Virtual Machines which house the other applications we run for the website.  The Virtual Machines are housed in a VMware Server which is free!

The Content Management System

For our content management system we went with EM3 iOn. We chose iOn due in part to its flexibility.  Written in all JAVA its flexibility and speed are unmatched as is its ease of integration into other applications.
